Map
Translate differing product and business codes into a shared vocabulary across teams and partners.
What it does
Data can describe the same things with different codes, categories, values and attributes. Map identifies the vocabularies in use and creates shared, controlled vocabularies with translation maps that make those differences understandable across systems.
Use cases
Teams in production, logistics, administration, sales and marketing can use a common vocabulary when exchanging information. Mapping can align product codes and categories, help provide correct product specifications, and support interoperability through established classifications such as SIC, NACE and ATECO.
Benefits
A shared, controlled vocabulary helps teams exchange consistent information, reduce supply errors caused by mismatched specifications, and lower the effort of maintaining separate lists. Standard codes also make data easier to use across organizational and industry boundaries.
How it works
Map identifies existing vocabularies and creates rules that translate between them. Semantic validation checks the mapping for inconsistencies; machine-learning methods can help with complex lists or vocabularies that change over time. Teams can revise, reverse or repeat a mapping while retaining control of how terms correspond.
